I offer compassion and a reflective space so that we can examine all parts of yourself with kind yet intentional curiosity

How IT Can Help

To thrive, we need awareness and connection.

Awareness

We all have engrained ways of being, ways of relating to others, and ways we think about the world. These are learned in childhood and throughout adult life and continue to refine as we live. I help individuals better connect to parts of themselves that they likely recognize but don’t have language for.

It can be empowering to understand all parts of ourselves – we are more equipped to understand our needs and wishes, so that we can stop ourselves from wrestling with things that feel confusing or out of our control. I help individuals gain this self-awareness by listening intentionally and being curious about things that are easily overlooked. We will do this together in a reflective space with compassion and patience.

Connection

I recognize that a lot of human suffering comes from relational wounds, or ways that we have been hurt in relation with others. I firmly believe that these relational wounds can only be healed relationally - individual therapy with a trusted therapist can expose you a new way of relating with someone, a way that allows you to feel safe and seen. This helps teach your nervous system to trust others and to trust yourself to know when to create boundaries.

Through insight and a safe bond, I help individuals better understand their inner worlds so that they can flourish in their relationships and ambitions.

My Therapeutic Approach

I work from various approaches in my treatment of individuals, but rely mainly on psychodynamic and attachment-based perspectives. These treatment approaches are backed by years of research and emphasize how our sense of self and our relationships are shaped through our experiences in childhood. I also utilize the relational aspects of these treatments, meaning I use my own experience in the room with the client to better understand what they feel in the world and how others feel when they’re with them.

I also draw understanding from the following treatment approaches:

  • Family Systems

  • Person-centered

  • Cognitive Behavioral (CBT)

  • Trauma Focused

  • Motivational Interviewing

  • Positive Psychology
